Tips for morning fog shots. Thanks so much for your kind comment. I usualy check the US naval time tables, about when a sunrise will take place in a certain location. I usualy go by the naval twilight time to calculate my arrival time, then from their I factor in the hiking time and driving time to the erea. So that will tell you when to set your alarm clock. www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/data-ser... You want to be at your location way ahead from when the sun will peek over the hills. Also another factor is the weather. I always check what the weather will be in a certain erea. The best fog shots I got was after a rainy day when a cold front has passed. I hope this will help. Ulrich

Morning fog in the valley seen from Eagle's Nest, at Indian Fort Mountain, Berea KY
IMGP2553
P.S. This morning my friend Edgar and I hiked up to the Eagles Nest view point in the Indian Fort Mountain in Berea, Kentucky.
We were shooting on a narrow angled down ledge with the K100d and DA 55 - 300 on a tripod, and as a walked back to my back pack to get my kit lens I heard a metalic scrapping sound and as I looked over my shoulder I seen my rig disapear over the ledge.... and then a numbing thudd... !!
With a knot in my stomach and throat I climbed down to retrieve what I feared was left of my beloved K100d. I was expecting some pieces of plastic glidered in glass...
But when I got to the spot I expected the camera to be, it was hanging on its strap upside down about 1 foot from some rocks.......in a small tree.
Well atleast it was still in one piece but after the long arduous climb back up I checked it out it was fine and I kept happily shooting on... here is one I would have missed if the camera would have fell another foot....! Ulrich Burkhalter on Flickr: Posted a Photo
